
Professor Andrew Bateman
Professor Andrew Bateman is the Principal Investigator on the Heads Together project.
Andrew has worked in clinical rehabilitation and research since 1990. He gained a PhD in Neuropsychology in 1997 (Birmingham) and worked in NHS Clinical leadership until 2019. He is currently Head of Division, School of Health and Social Care, Division of Interdisciplinary Research and Practice at the University of Essex and Director of NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) Research Design Service East of England as well as an Affiliated Lecturer in Dept of Psychiatry (University of Cambridge) and Chair of the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum.
Andrew says of Heads Together: 'I was really happy to convene this group and lead the bid writing. Our successful bid was really a “Covid lockdown project”. Having a fabulous team in place, I am excited to think that we will make a difference to Social Work training that ultimately will benefit people living with the hidden consequences of brain injury.'
